Our Programs

67 years of occupation and displacement resulted in complex socio-economic problems. We offer innovative and sustainable solutions to those problems, using a partnership driven approach with both our beneficiaries and other development and public sector entities. We are committed to advancing creativity, excellence, gender equity, sustainability, and high standards of governance in all our core areas of intervention.

Our Areas of Focus

Our programs contribute to creating an ecosystem where Palestinians can flourish, and in turn, continue to contribute to Palestine’s sustainable development. To do that, we focus on what we consider the three core pillars of flourishing communities:

  • Investing in human capital, through the Education Program, Mustaqbali and the Youth Empowerment Services Program (YES).
  • Self-expression and cultural identity, through the Culture Program, the Old City of Jerusalem Revitalization Program (OCJRP) and the Palestinian Museum.
  • Access to quality social services, through the Community Development Program.

We work with more than 200 organizational partners and we touch the lives of 1,000,000 Palestinians on annual basis; 50% female and 50% male.

Mustaqbali Program News

Mustaqbali offering free school uniforms to students

Mustaqbali school children received their new uniforms and stationery through ‘the enhancing access to education for orphan children project– eighth year’ which is implemented by Taawon in partnership with El Wedad Society for Community Rehabilitation in Gaza with fund from Abraaj Group.

The project is considered one of Mustaqbali’s important projects that targets 1041 students from the Gaza Strip to support their learning process in primary and secondary years and to help them continue their education.

Dr. Naem Ghalban, Elwidad chairman, said that such project assists children specifically orphans who has special conditions to cover any gap in their life that could affect their normal lives, adding that their success is an achievement for themselves and for the entire Palestinian community.

Nisma Sayed, project coordinator, explained that the project targeted 1041 children from primary and secondary stages after assessing their needs and preparing a comprehensive database considering their situations. She added that covering their needs guarantees the continuation of their educational journey.

The project arranged with local suppliers to provide the best quality of school uniforms, school bags and stationery. The distribution process was monitored to make sure that all beneficiaries received high quality service with satisfaction.

Yusra Hamad, mother of orphaned children, said “I’m not worried about the clothing or stationery for my children who received excellent uniforms with a lot of kindness from the team!”

Mustaqbali’s program is a holistic 22-year initiative that empowers orphaned children with the skills and opportunities necessary to lead healthy, independent and productive lives.

Extracurricular activities within the Support Education Project

Tamer Institute for Community Education has implemented several activities for expressive arts aimed at promoting culture and expression, and supporting knowledge and creative production within the Future Education Program funded by the Abraaj Group and under the supervision of Taawon organization.

The expressive arts included music, theater, public speaking and technological applications. A group of children were selected in each activity through exploratory visits to the host centers of the education project supporting children of Mustaqbali program.

More than 80 children participated in the chorale group. About 40 children were selected to train them on the choir performance. Twenty-six children were selected for theatrical training and to learn the principles of acting.

We are also working with about 8 children with radio performance so they could produce a story from the curriculum and one from children’s literature books, with a radio recording their voices. They were selected out of 30 children after being tested for their radio presentation skills.

13 year-old Abdel Rahman Benner says the experience of the radio and sound recording is one of the most beautiful things he has ever experienced in his life. It was his first experience standing in front of the loudspeaker at the radio recording room.

For technology applications, interested children will have three applications that will help them understand the curriculum and connect them with the world of inventions and technological inventions, and will spread their experiences with their peers.

It is noteworthy that Mustaqbali program is an integrated program launched in 2009 immediately after the aggression on Gaza, and was designed to extend for 22 years to enable orphaned children in Gaza and provide them with a decent life by providing educational opportunities and physical and psychological health and skills that drive them because They are productive and active members of society.
