| Welfare Association has responded to the community's needs in
Palestine by providing direct, emergency relief and support for
the families of those killed, injured and left jobless due to the
violence and closures, support for rehabilitation and treatment
centers and provision of special aids for disabled people.
Development Amidst Emergency (2000-2004): Since 2000, the Welfare
Association has intensified its activities and redirected much of
its work toward developing programs and raising funds to meet the
emergency needs of individuals for food, shelter, medical assistance,
education and jobs, while continuing with its ongoing development
programs and projects for civil society institutions. WA designed
and implemented emergency programs for external donors that used
rigorous criteria to ensure that assistance reaches the neediest,
monitored procurement procedures for supplies, and guaranteed efficient
and rapid disbursement of relief aid.
