  ICCROM Visits Welfare Association Old City of Jerusalem Revitalization                                  Program Offices - March 2008

On 25 February 2008, an expert mission from the International Centre for the Study of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (ICCROM) visited Welfare Association (WA) Old City of Jerusalem Revitalization Program (OCJRP) offices. The mission included Mr. Mounir Bouchenaki, ICCROM Director General, and two training curriculum experts, Professor Andrea Urland and Dr. Simone Ricca.                     Read More >>


 Baroness Tonge, of Kew in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames                         Visits Welfare Association - 25 February 2008

aWelfare Association (WA) hosted a visit to Jerusalem by Baroness Dr. Jenny Tonge of Kew in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, and Dr. Keith Tonge, on Monday, February 18. In addition to being a member of the British House of Lords, Baroness Tonge volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors of WA-UK, WA’s sister organization, also which coordinated the visit. WA senior staff received the visitors at the Technical Office of WA’s Old City of Jerusalem. Revitalization Program (OCJRP), and later took the delegation on a tour of WA projects in Jerusalem in the cultural and health sectors.

                  Emergency Appeal to Relieve our People in Gaza

                                              24 January 2008

Currently over 1.5 million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are suffering under unprecedented hardship as a direct result of  Israel closing all crossings into Gaza, cutting it off from all supplies of food, medicine and fuel including humanitarian aid. As a direct consequence, the situation is approaching a humanitarian catastrophe as people are increasingly suffering from hunger, thirst, fuel shortages, and dwindling medical supplies. The Israeli policy of collective punishment imposed on the people of Gaza has led to a situation where poverty and unemployment have both reached staggering rates of over 80%, and where up to 85% of the population is solely dependent on the very humanitarianassistance which is being denied.                              Read More >>
