About the Forum:

The Welfare Association (WA), in collaboration with other philanthropic organizations in the Arab Region, seeks to create an active learning community in the field of social justice philanthropy; this philanthropic organization will engage in seeking solutions to development challenges in the Arab World and the world at large. We have called this rostrum the name “Arab Foundations Forum”, and based on our commitment and activities of the principle of promoting social development through fair moving private capital for the benefit of the public interest.

Mission:

To be a forum of dialogue, exchange of experience and networking, to increase awareness of social responsibility and the importance of capitalizing on private funding for the benefit of the public. The forum will also work on enhancing social development justice by providing a climate suitable for a healthy institutional work based on the principals of transparency and accountability.

OBJECTIVES:

  1. Encouraging foundations to be part of the forum; as well as to introduce them and be identified to other operating foundations along with consolidating mutual exchange of experience among them.
  2. Increasing awareness about the concepts of justice and social responsibility.
  3. Introducing the primary concepts of code of conduct and ethical practices such as transparency, good governance, accountability,  and responsibility with reference to policies applicable in the Arab countries. This will provide support to the foundations in their fields of work
  4. Finding strategic partnerships among participating foundations in the Forum and the private sector.
  5. Represent the Forum and the Arab Foundations in global Forums.

Forum Members:

Foundations that are independent, separately-constituted non-profit bodies with their own established and reliable source of income, usually but not exclusively from an endowment, and their own governing (board of Trustees, General Assembly, and Executive Committee. Their mission and objectives include the performance of work and support for public benefit purposes, either by supporting associations, institutions, NGOs, or individuals etc., or by operating their own programs.
